Japanese woodblock print from Mizuno Toshikata’s Sanjuroku-Kasen, also referred to as Thirty-Six Selected Beauties, a collection created between 1891 and 1893. The print features an elegantly dressed woman seated near a tree with vivid red foliage. The composition includes detailed elements such as traditional Japanese sliding screens and floral patterns in the attire. The print measures 9 3/4 inches wide by 14 inches high. Condition includes foxing and evidence of backing on the reverse side. Mizuno Toshikata (1866-1908) was a prominent artist of the Meiji period, renowned for his expertise in bijin-ga (images of beautiful women) and his contribution to the preservation and evolution of traditional Japanese woodblock print art.
