Japanese woodblock print titled High-class Courtesan and Her Maid by Mizuno Toshikata (1866-1908). Part of Toshikata’s series 36 Selected Beauties (Sanjuroku Kasen), this artwork illustrates a high-class courtesan and her maid standing on the engawa, or veranda, of a house, with cherry blossoms softly framing the background. Mizuno Toshikata was an acclaimed Japanese artist renowned for his mastery in ukiyo-e woodblock printing, especially in the portrayal of nihonga-inspired themes and depictions of women. The print measures approximately 9 3/4 inches wide by 14 inches high. The condition includes some foxing and evidence of backing on the reverse side.
